As Chancellor of the Colombian Consulate in Chicago, I assisted Midwest-based U.S. corporations doing business in Colombia. I worked with U.S. Federal and State Departments of Commerce, business leaders, and trade ministries in Latin America.Key activities:- Worked with Harold Washington and the Chicago Mayor's office to open the international business division, with director Tom Carter. - Worked with Governor Thompson's office to launch the trade office for the State of Illinois in Mexico City.- Escorted Secretary of State (later Governor) Jim Edgar to Colombia to introduce a trade delagation with Colombia and other South American countries: Brazil, Argentina, and Ecuador.- Assisting Colombian corporations to do business in Chicago and the Midwest.
