About Jaime Behen
My deep desire to meaningfully and authentically connect with others can probably be directly related back to my time growing up as a middle child in the early 90's. I'm sure my family wouldn't hesitate to agree. As a result, it's certainly no accident that I ended up in the field of education.Over my professional career, I've had the privilege of connecting, teaching and learning alongside so many brilliant minds in so many different places across the United States. I began my career as a Second Grade Teacher, tasked with educating our youngest and most brilliant minds, in Tulsa, Oklahoma as a member of Teach For America. Since then, I've spent most of my time continuing to support students, but this time through their teachers. I have experience at varying levels in that support model, starting with providing direct instructional support, to a higher-level of comprehensive program & team management.Where I do my best work brings me right back to my roots as an educator and that younger me that carried a deep desire to meaningfully connect wherever she went. I'm obsessed with meeting people where they're at and ensuring they feel seen, valued and heard along the way. This shows up through my thoughtful approach to relationship building, as well as designing authentic learning moments for them to engage in and a facilitation approach that welcomes folks to bring nothing but who they are, and maybe a pen."Judy Willis (look her up she's great) taught me that my responsibility in education is to "lower the barrier, not the bar." This is exactly what being in a learning session with Jaime feels like even when the work is daunting. She is people-centered. She is real. She is effective. She focuses on the human first so that the learning can happen. I have attended several sessions led by Jaime and given a chance, I will choose learning from her again and again. – Adelaida Castillo (Senior Managing Director, Leadership Development, Rio Grand Valley)"
