Field Biologist
I was the Technical Manager for my Branch, with my main workload consisting of carrying out technical pest control inspections of high profile customer sites (Pharmaceutical, Food Manufacturing and Supermarkets). This included scheduled inspections to comply with third party auditing standards and working alongside clients or facilities management services to manage site infestation and carry out root cause analysis. The role required excellent communication skills, as I was required to complete detailed report writing with tight deadlines, reports include action plans, escalation reports and proofing surveys. I must ensure I communicated professionally, confidently and efficiently with customers and colleagues, including facilities managers and site contacts, helping to improve and maintain customer relationships.I also carried out ongoing training and development to Technicians; this is carried out in the field on an individual basis, as well as in team meetings. Training includes legislation changes, product changes and client specification and auditing standards updates. I also managed Technicians to ensure pest control quality and service was maintained to a high and sufficient standard, this is completed via quality control checks which are fedback to the Technician and Service Manager, and monitor to ensure any remedial works are completed. The role required excellent organisational skills, as I was required to manage my client’s strict servicing schedules and complete inspections on time, and I organised Level 3 Technician workloads and delegate tasks as required to ensure all targets are achieved.
Advanced Technician
I was responsible for my own geographic area, this included managing my own appointments and schedule, servicing customer contracts to a high standard, dealing with administrative tasks and dealing with reactive and proactive pest control. This is achieved with the use of pesticides, physical control methods and a knowledge and advanced training in pest control.During my time as a Technician, I was a core member of my Branch, and was given additional responsibility and higher profile sites to look after. For instance, I was the cover technician for the penicillin side of a large Pharmaceutical company, one of our branch’s biggest contracts, and I looked after the contracts in Gatwick Airport. I also looked after several 'Diamond Client’s' on colleague’s areas.Through my desire to develop my existing skills, and learn new ones, I pushed to go on additional training courses. This has seen me pass the BPCA Level 3 Certificate, a Safe Use of Aluminium Phosphide course and a Mist Netting Course (designed for the safe capture and release of small birds).I was a Field Trainer for the branch, which included initially training new technicians, but also having an investment into their long term and ongoing development. Since passing the BPCA Level 3 exam, I assisted the Field Biologist at the time with Escalations and Technical Inspections.
Administration Assistant
I assisted the Administration Manager with taking incoming calls, whether they are from our clients or product providers and where applicable, either pass on messages or process and resolve the query. I also process the post and action or pass on as required. The main bulk of my duties are based on work given by the financial planners; this can include client portfolio valuations, typing letters and dealing with client queries or client applications.During my time in this position, I was given sole responsibility of managing the backup procedure and ensuring all data is backed up on a daily basis. I was also in charge of stationary and general office consumable replenishment.I had built up a friendlier rapport with a few of the company’s clients when dealing with their requests. As a result, a number of these clients would ask for me directly as they knew I would deal with their queries in a professional and time efficient manner. One client invited me to a business lunch with the financial planner as a thank you for all the work I had carried out on their case.
Assistant Groundskeeper
I assisted the Head Groundskeeper in managing the school grounds. My gardening and horticultural duties included cutting the schools two playing fields, cutting, strimming and edging other grass areas and weeding the plant patches. Whilst performing these duties I regularly used hedge cutters, strimmers, pedestrian mowers, ride on mowers and for the playing fields, I drove a tractor with a grass cutting attachment.I also maintained and prepared the areas where activities would be based. This included regularly sweeping the Astro Turf and repairing broken or damaged equipment (such as the hockey and football goals), I marked out the playing fields depending on the activity (football, rugby, rounders, athletics etc).
Front Desk Receptionist
This was my part time employment whilst I was studying for my A-Levels. My responsibilities included, greeting visitors and directing them to the right person or activity area, answering customer queries, answering calls and taking messages and keeping the reception area tidy.
