About Jakob Mökander

Jakob is the Director of Science & Technology Policy at the Tony Blair Institute (TBI), where he leads a global team of researchers and advisors to help political leaders design and implement better policies. He is also an International Research Fellow at the Yale Digital Ethics Center (DEC). Jakob holds a PhD from the University of Oxford. His research at the Oxford Internet Institute (OII) has helped companies ensure and demonstrate that the AI systems they design and deploy are ethical, legal and safe. During his PhD, Jakob was a visiting scholar at Princeton University’s Center for Information Technology Policy (CITP) and a research fellow at the Centre for the Governance of AI (GovAI). Outside academia, Jakob has worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co in London, as well as a Trade and Invest Advisor under the aegis of the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Based in New Delhi, India, he helped conceptualize and launch the India-Sweden Innovation Partnership, a unique triple helix collaboration between government, industry and academia directed towards initiating and funding bilateral industrial R&D projects.
