My name is James Torres, and my interests have always been where the analytical and the creative meet. In high school, I would compete in Popsicle stick bridge building competitions as well as short story competitions. I found that I could bring system and structure to my short stories while thinking of creative ways to maximize the efficiency of my popsicle stick bridges. Given my combination of creative and analytical skills, I developed a passion for creative problem-solving. It was for that reason that I decided to work in data analytics. Ever since my time with Thinkful, I have been able to apply statistical methods and machine learning models to problems that I didn’t know were solvable. Data analytics is an ever-changing field that requires constant learning. For that reason, my desire is to use it to continue learning & problem-solving.
