I am a highly skilled and innovative leader with social entrepreneurial talents and nonprofit management experience with a wide range of accomplishments in program development and implementation, team leadership, and conducting trainings and workshops. Through firsthand exposure to prison systems throughout the world over the past 20 years, I have been imbued with an understanding of how the backgrounds of racial, economic, and overall social inequalities of most incarcerated people led them to criminality. I see how the inhumane conditions and environments of correctional systems perpetuate these disparities keeping those incarcerated stigmatized, oppressed, and devoid of opportunities for personal growth and uplifting. And I see how complex trauma and the resultant mental health issues keep people not only locked up but also locked inside themselves. Everyone in the system suffers from the pernicious traumatic undercurrents of the environment, including prison staff as well as those who are incarcerated. I am skilled in public speaking with a vast knowledge of issues related to developmental trauma, behavioral health, effective rehabilitation programming, restorative and transformative justice, and reducing mass incarceration. I have a track record of collaborating effectively with diverse groups of people on a daily basis, addressing conflict, and maintaining a perspective of the need for accountability among all within societal constructs.
