My first ever job was a cart boy at a high end public golf course in upstate New York. At first I struggled and was often intimidated by my coworkers and customers, but as time went on I became more comfortable with what I was unfamiliar with. As I learned more about the necessary procedures and how to interact with customers I became much more productive. My employers placed me on the busiest days and began to trust me with a heavier work load. Then, this previous summer I was promoted into the pro shop where I would handle sales and interact with customers even more. What I was able to derive from this experience was to embrace what makes me uncomfortable and make sure your effort is consistent and apparent.
