Hello! I'm James, an aspiring full-stack engineer with a deep interest in generative AI looking for a full-time position beginning this summer. I am beginning my career with a blend of academic and practical experience. Pursuing a BASc in Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo has equipped me with a robust understanding of software engineering, data structures, algorithms, networking, and computer systems. My academic journey is complemented by hands-on experience gained through 6 co-op placements at leading companies like Tesla and Faire.My 12 months at Tesla as a Software Engineer intern were transformative and let me explore many different technologies. Here, I worked on projects that sharpened my skills in mobile and web development as well as AI and natural language processing. My involvement in these projects not only contributed to Tesla's innovative endeavours but also provided me with invaluable insights into the workings of a leading tech giant in the automotive, energy and AI sectors.At Faire, an online marketplace supporting independent retailers and brands, I embraced roles in both front-end and back-end development. My contributions ranged from enhancing the user interface to optimizing database performance, alongside implementing cutting-edge generative AI features to enhance accessibility and SEO.
