Head Of Commercial Development
With over ten years business development experience in the NHS I offer a comprehensive understanding of the commercial environments in which the NHS operates; ranging from:- Winning new business and defending existing contracts via competitive tender: since being at CNWL I have designed and then led a bidding process for the Trust that has delivered over £500m worth of contracts and has returned an average win rate of 2 out of 3 bids over the past five years- Exploring and developing commercial opportunities: to counter the increasing financial challenges faced by the NHS, the Trust is keen to explore other commercial opportunities that deliver additional income which can be reinvested into the Trust's public sector services. These range from developing private services to complement those available upon the NHS, to offering training, development and consultancy services to other organisations that can benefit from our experience. As Head of Business Development it is my responsibility to seek out such opportunities and to support our services test their viability, before developing them for the market place. - Whether the Trust is providing services to patients in the UK or to customers overseas, providing high quality services that meet the particular needs of those who use them is our number one priority. As the Trust's Business Development Manager it was my responsibility to oversee the Trust's competitive tendering activity, including: - Developing a successful bidding process that resulted in going from a 10% win rate to a 75% win rate within 12 months (and that has maintained a 2 out of 3 win rate for over five years)- Reporting and advising senior management on tender related performance- Ensuring that the Trust's business assurance processes for signing off tenders were consistently followed, in line with standing financial instructions- Offering training on successful bid writing to the Trust's services- Managing the tender team
Bid And Intelligence Manager
The Bid & Intelligence Manager is a member of the commercial development unit that is customer focused and provides commercial development services to the rest of the organisation. The post requires me to play a lead role in managing the Trust’s tender/bid processes and developing business intelligence systems to support our commercial activity and which are fit for the requirements of a large and growing foundation trust. The role includes;- providing a tender/bid horizon scoping service for the Trust's comprehensive range of service lines- project managing the production of all competitive tenders across the Trust including preparation/compilation of all corporate input, proofing, quality assurance for the final presentation of documents and insuring bids are submitted within deadlines- ensuring all tenders are approved in line with the Trust's Business Assurance processes- compilation of quarterly business tracker document that informs the Trust of all bid/tender/business case/project activity at the Business and Finance Committee- maintenance of tender intelligence library that promotes use of exemplar answers for bids and tenders- project lead for the extended trial of new CRM system including organising training sessions, providing 1:1 training to those requiring it, co-ordinating the service lines' contribution to all organisation and contact inputs to the system, leading the trial group in establishing outcomes for the trial that will promote a wider roll out Trust wide and providing system administration- developing soft systems of capturing business intelligence leads from across the Trust- providing market analysis to support business development projects across the Trust including competitor analyses, benchmarking, customer profiling etc.
