Design & check of transmission test fixtures for individual components and functional sub assemblies. Design & check of various work holding fixtures and gages. All work is done for local engineering and manufacturing companies that have a work load that surpasses their current staffing levels.

Extensive hands-on experience in the control of various engineering projects for G.M. Powertrain. Have been involved in experimental transmission development and launch programs where being on top of changes was paramount. Designed various transmission and engine test fixtures and test stands for functional sub assemblies and individual components. Worked as a liaison between our design team, G.M. engineering, and the manufacturing facilities. Other responsibilities include working with G.M. Powertrain to evaluate new projects while obtaining individual job line-ups and producing design quotes for my design team. These jobs were personally followed up, while keeping in constant contact with G.M. engineering regarding any design changes that could affect these projects. Maintained status of each project from quote to completion including any revisions or additions that could affect project profitability. Coordinated all CAD activities relating to their respective projects and maintained a data base for all of the files. Ensured that any revisions to existing projects were properly documented, changes recorded, and submitted back into the project file data base.

Worked under personal contract to Experimental Engineering at the G.M. Powertrain Willow Run transmission plant. Managed a staff of twelve people in the design and check of test fixtures, checking fixtures, test stands, and assembly tools. Insured the operation, updating, and use of the test facilities so they were available for both development and validation testing. Maintained involvement in the design and development of future test systems, in the test labs and the dynamometer cells.Worked with G.M. Powertrain Purchasing, in regards to all transmission test tooling. Reviewed all design & build quotes. Initiated the P.O.’s based on price & timing. Followed up each P.O. through completion. Ensured that supplier systems, processes, and design & build capabilities, met and were compliant with current needs.
