Academic Instructor/Mentor
Current• Group tutoring format (1:15). 3 hour session immediately after school.• Positive Role Model/Mentor for K-8th grade students in a classroom setting.• Ensure that student’s health, care, safety, welfare, security, rights, choices & the classroom and school facility is a safe environment for K-8th youth.• Facilitate and plan academic skill-building activities.• Manage an academic and social development.• Ensure all students graduate with successful completion of A-G requirements. • Manage and develop social, leadership skills and preparation for college success. • Manage student enrollment. Provide student counseling and guidance.• Create, plan, and facilitate engaging team-building skills.• Support students in developing the skills they need to be successful in school life.• Develop, inspire, empower and manage academic priorities that increase student engagement, achievement that empowers students towards a transformative vision where “Agency & Engagement” & “Theory & Practice is actualized.• Responsible for Attendance Sheet, passing out snacks, escorting youth to recess.• Evaluation Student Outcomes for the most vulnerable student populations (English learners, students with disabilities, African-American & Latino students)• Ensure students are consistently receiving supports, accommodations, and/or modifications as delineated in student’s Individualized Education Plans (IEP).• Design and implement lesson plans at varying academic levels (Meet Students Where They Are). Establish academic goals and milestones with students.• Oversee homework study hall, creating a positive learning environment for students to succeed.• Create opportunities for youth to practice building life skills such as goal-setting, self-advocacy, and organization to succeeding in the classroom.• Project-based learning, small group tasks, individual and group writing tasks, formative and summative assessment, and public performance/presentation.
