After achieving a high 2:1 average from my first year results, I am intrigued to be participating in my second year studying BSC Economics at Loughborough Business School. Furthering my knowledge, having the opportunity to explore new avenues and disciplines within economics as well as being able to focus on personalising my degree through my optional modules of Introduction to Financial Economics and International Economic Relations. Being an active receiver of current events through the Financial Times and the Economist have allowed me to bring new perspectives into both discussion and exam questions. As well as entering my second year for my degree, this academic year will also give me the chance to begin to search for, apply and attain placements, as I enter the start of this journey I am excited by the overwhelming number of career directions that are available. Upon being successful I will be able to fully show the wide range of soft skills including communication, team working, professionalism and time management that have been developed from my time as a partner at Waitrose. Combined with the ability to engage the critical thinking my first year at university gave me. Allowing me to apply much of the theory gained and allow me to further understand with it having a real world personal application.Throughout my first year at university I was a keen member of the Loughborough Society Mountaineering Club (LSMC), regularly attending weekly training sessions, having the opportunity to attend club trips to the Peak District and Pembrokeshire as well as gaining new skills such as gaining a certificate in the 'ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid'. In my second year I intend to continue this commitment.
