Carry out thorough research and development in order to design creative innovative products for the Softbox Group, full support of the Design Manager including leading projects and running the design office during Design Manager's absence. As a key member of the Design Team, objectively evaluate client needs and investigate new and existing markets whilst also supporting the branding and marketing operations within the business group.Key involvement across all areas of product development, this typically involves:Development of concepts and promotional media with project sponsor, allowing thorough market research to be carried out. This allows for the evaluation of all aspects and implications of Temperature Control Packaging design, with particular focus on thermal performance, cost to manufacture, end user interaction and disposal.Creation of 2D and 3D designs followed by working prototypes for live testing, either through in-house manufacture or working with identified suppliers or prototype manufacturers.Selection of materials suitable for the design and manufacture of the product. Identifying and working with external manufacturing businesses to produce new components.Work with in house manufacturing teams to implement production and supply them with necessary manufacturing and packing guides.Working with Sales and Marketing teams to design branding and artwork for new products.Production of all client facing documentation prior to product launch. This includes assembly guides, packing guides, data sheets, assembly animations, marketing images, etc.In addition to these project based duties, I undertake the training, supervision and development of other Design Team personnel, the upkeep of the technical database and maintain the design management systems in accordance with QMS, looking to continuously improve working methods to improve design and research efficiencies.
