As a founding Board Member of Fusion Annapolis Valley, I have been able to engage and connect with the Annapolis Valley’s young professional who are looking to develop their career and/or business in the Annapolis Valley. Serving as President since early 2016, I provide leadership to the board, governance support for the organization and lead projects that advance issues of importance to young professionals through the Fusion Annapolis Valley’s Engagement Committee.

As the Workforce and Labour Development Coordinator I researched, developed and implemented a business engagement strategy for the employment services sector. This role provided a professional approach to engaging and supporting local businesses in the Annapolis Valley. Through my background in Human Resources, I assisted businesses with recruitment, selection, and retention issues as well as securing funding sources to support training and/or wages.

As part of a media start-up that primarily provided web and radio media content, I was responsible for all early business models, plans, and partnership development. I supported Scales Media to optimize their web-based advertising revenue and building marketing partnerships, which allowed for the ability to expand their radio content.

As Vice President of NSGEU local 73 I engaged in Labour Management activities, developed new member orientation packages. Throughout my time as a member of the local executive I also held many positions at the local, regional, provincial and engaged in national young workers’ forums. As a steward and executive member I was also involved in Grievance and Arbitration management. Provincially, I facilitated New Activist and Steward training courses as well as serving as a board member representing the Annapolis Valley Region. I was a founding member of the NSGEU’s Young Workers’ Committee that engaged with and advocated for young workers and young workers’ issues.

As an Educational Assistant I worked one on one with students who have intellectual, developmental, and/or behavioral challenges.
