I am a former 1st Assistant Manager for one of the largest sporting goods chains on the West Coast. During my four year nine month career at Big 5 Sporting Goods, I had earned five promotions and worked at seven different location. Each location gave me the opportunity to hone my skills and allowed me to learn from some of the best people in the industry. My deep desire to be the best at what I do, combined with my hard work ethic, had taken me from a Manager Trainee at a low-volume store to a 1st Assistant Manager at a high-volume store in under five years. In between promotions, I was chosen to be one of four Team Leaders in my district to have the opportunity to work closely with the Store Development department to help remodel the La Habra, Lakewood, and the Pico Rivera locations as well as build the La Mirada location. My HR roles within the company allowed me to hire a self-motivated team that worked together to provide a great shopping experience for the customer while eliminating preventable loss through exceptional customer service. Colleagues know me as an honest and dependable leader that always tries to help others. I’m the ‘go to’ person when someone has a question and I prefer to teach rather than show. My ability to motivate others has brought the employees of every store I have worked at closer together and has created a collaborative workplace that encourages creativity and teamwork. I graduated in the top ten percent of my class from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration and an emphasis in Management and Human Resources.
