The technical problem solving skills and my unparalleled attention to detail when performing continuous improvement as a Modern Apprentice allowed me to become a subject matter expert while greatly expanding my interpersonal and organisational skills.Progress: Started as a modern apprentice and became the Certified SME for Spectrum Protect for Unified Recovery (TSM).Continuous Improvement: Proven track record or optimising systems and processes using the Continuous Service Improvement Process (CSIP).Security: Champion for prioritising and remediating vulnerabilities on our storage infrastructure.Technical Problem Solving: I am adept at scrutinising technical logs for troubleshooting purposes and using tacit knowledge of systems and processes to implement positive resolution of issues within various service level agreements.Analyse: I was pivotal in the management and remediation of two separate major incidents for which I consulted on one and resolved the other along with proactive preventative actions to reduce the risk of recurrence.Highlighted Achievements:I was entrusted to lead the design and implementation of a new global backup solution based on my previous successes improving the existing backup infrastructure. The new solution utilised high availability configuration to ensure there was no downtime for maintenance which was crucial as it was used as a primary backup location for business critical database transaction logs.Key part of a tightly knit team of individuals responsible for a datacentre transformation project which oversaw the refresh of all storage and Wintel hardware on the floor. This involved the seamless physical lift and shift migration of Storage infrastructure from one datacentre to another as part of a large-scale storage refresh programme which included a mass migration of data from old to new infrastructure.

This role allowed me to massively develop with experienced mentors and hands on experience. As a Modern Apprentice I achieved an SVQ 3 and then continued my development by pursuing a second apprenticeship. I continued to learn skills, gain exposure to new technologies, and interact with colleagues at all levels of the business while gaining an SVQ 4.Development: As I was completing my apprenticeship a member of the team who had worked in Storage and Mainframe for 35 years announced his retirement. One of his main responsibilities (TSM) was passed onto me over the course of several months developing my place in the team.Continuity: Dedicated resource to a variety of Disaster Recovery tests including annual DR Mega Test.Highlighted Achievements:I was able to improve overall backup performance by seven times through performing numerous changes to fine tune the backup servers and individual clients alike to increase throughput.Despite having no experience in using PowerShell, Through the use of free resources I taught myself enough to be able to write several scripts which fully automated the deployment of backup clients. This reduced the time taken for a full deployment from 35 minutes per client to 2 minutes per client which saved an estimated 30 hours of team resource each week.
