This position was tasked with starting a Project Management Office (PMO) to better align the teams and improve the relationship. In this role, I led the rollout and management of the PMO by formalizing the support process and by instituting a change-control board for approval and priority setting. The PMO was invaluable to the company, allowing us to manage the heavy workload and sustain growth.

Initially hired into the Technical Operations department as a Unix/NT system administrator, I was promoted shortly thereafter to Project Manager to assist with a high profile project for the company – Intrado’s datacenter relocation. The relocation included all of Intrado’s 9-1-1 infrastructure, Dev and QA systems, network circuitry, the NOC, corporate servers, and 450 employees and PCs. This is where I cut my teeth in project management – very intense, complex, and high-risk. I learned a lot about the datacenter, network, and server environment, as well as the importance, and challenges, of proper planning with a group of engineers.
