Mental Health Worker
CurrentProviding telephone based assessments to understand what support is required and facilitate links with specialist services. Recording information and use of System 1.I am the first port of call for Patient’s who are struggling with their mental health. They can be anxious, aggressive ( which I see as frustration) , desperate , scared etc. It is very common to receive a call where the Patient is Suicidal or is self harming. I have to think on my feet and offer emotional support at the same time as trying to get the Patient some help. I work alongside NHFT, 111, the Ambulance Service , the Police, GP’s and other Mental Health Services. Phone calls can be difficult and intense. This is where my calm, empathetic nature and good listening skills come into play.Whilst in this employment I have acquired a Certificate in Storm Training.
