In 2005 I established my own business offering freelance publishing and editorial services, across both print and digital formats. I specialise in Professional, Educational and Children’s Publishing and have extensive experience of Primary, Secondary, Vocational and ELT markets, and have successfully delivered print and digital resources across an extensive range of subject areas for leading publishers including OUP, CUP, Pearson, Hodder and Rising Stars. I offer a range of services including: commissioning, project-management, research and market evaluation, copy-editing, manuscript development and proofreading. I also develop e-Book briefs and test digital products throughout all stages of production. As a writer I have contributed to ELT and Primary student and teacher resources and written for a range of consumer craft and hobby magazines. In August 2014 I published my first book – Oxfordshire: Remembering 1914-1918 – with The History Press.

As Senior Project Manager I ran the development of company's core product on a day-to-day basis. Verifying that the project produced the required deliverables of quality, within the specified constraints of time and cost. Working within multiple teams to manage resources, schedules, financials and adhere to established processes. This also included management of issues, risks and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. Creating and implementing process improvement initiatives to improve project delivery, I devised, maintained and managed detailed production schedules for multiple projects - print and digital - at the same time.Additionally, I acted as Product Manager for the regionalisation of the Maths - No Problem! Primary series incorporating the requirements of international curriculums and cultural considerations to create country specific versions of the textbook and workbook series.

I was responsible for commissioning, concept development, project leadership and backlist management of the Business Studies and PE and Sport lists from Key Stage 3 to Higher Education. I was additionally responsible for Law, Media, Vocational Science, Film Studies and Leisure and Tourism.My role principally involved tracking qualification and market developments, and commissioning materials accordingly. This also involved maintaining close links with Awarding Bodies. As a result, I published a large number of exam board endorsed textbook series, in response to the introduction of new qualifications.Alongside the development of digital products such as Nelson Thornes Portfolio Builder, I built partnerships with other content providers and software suppliers such as C4 Learning and Dartfish Software, to enhance and expand our distribution channels.

My position involved the commissioning and development of market profiles across a range of subjects and sectors including Materials Science, Renewable Energy, Personal Identification Technology and Engineering. In addition, I had editorial responsibility for two monthly newsletters, Card Technology Today and Filtration Industry Analyst, which were distributed in both printed and electronic formats.

Reinforced Plastics is an international, monthly business-to-business magazine. I contributed features, interviews, news, and opinion pieces, along with editorial input and management of the production process.

Having completed a university work placement with Elsevier as part of my degree, I was subsequently offered full-time employment. My role here was to devise and conduct market research across several scientific and technical markets. This involved analytical report writing, consolidating market information and presentation of proposals.
