Polar Expedition Guide
In this role I primarily worked in the Southern Ocean and Western Antarctic Peninsula, but also spent time in the Atlantic for a crossing, and guided in Southern Chile. I operated zodiacs for passenger shuttling, wildlife viewing, and kayak safety. I worked on land where I established trails, oversaw passenger safety and compliance with IAATO regulations, and provided educational talks. Onboard I was a lecturer on seabirds and hosted guided seabird viewing experiences on sea days. I also oversaw expedition team inventory distribution for equipment to both guides and passengers.
Heritage Presenter (Interpreter)
Delivered and developed educational programs about the natural and cultural heritage of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Topics that I focused on include: Large carnivores and human-wildlife coexistence, Southern Resident Killer Whales, and intertidal biodiversity. I developed a guided walk about the ecology of birds found in the area. I also roved the National Park Reserve, providing educational information and upheld Park Reserve policies through educational communication.
