Janet McDowell is the Founder and CEO of JMcDowell Leadership Consulting Group, where she facilitates the Principal Refresher Coaching Program. This five-month program aims to help principals elevate their leadership skills to reach their academic and professional goals. Janet McDowell is a school turnaround specialist. Her current assignment is at Alfred A. Benesch K-8 School with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Janet McDowell served as an instructional leader in various learning environments in particular; urban, urban-suburban, Pk-8, high school, bilingual, gifted, and redesign. She has been very consistent in meeting school and district goals by increasing student performance, student attendance, graduation rates, and improved learning conditions. She possesses the following leadership attributes; proven change agent, high expectations, mission-driven, self-motivated, and results-oriented. Her primary competencies include being a resource for peers, data-driven instruction, leading student culture, professional development, and mentoring principals. In a short period, at both school levels, she has drastically improved the school culture by creating a school climate, applying and teaching good character attributes, celebrating learning, and implementing a universal system that maximizes instructional time in the classroom.
