The board has the responsibility of overseeing policies that affect people with autism in the Norfolk and Waveney region. I primarily engage in a working group which has the task of developing autism training for public sector workers. I have, on two occasions, stepped up to act as co-chair for the NAPB meetings.

Duties in the role included: • Enrolling students: a customer-facing role • Scrutinising DBS forms • Archiving material • Investigating and analysing student data• Communicating with management and teaching staff • Finding and resolving complex timetabling issues with the Resourcing and Performance teamWhen I first started this position, I worked with the enrolments team where I enrolled students face-to-face. My line manager was impressed with my work and I was subsequently picked out to work with the college´s programme managers. Following this, I was fast-tracked to the managers’ office every year since. While working with the team, I helped to improve the efficiency of working with the Tribal ebs software: this software is used for enrolling and timetabling students.

An elected, representative role for the Mathematics course; I was responsible for managing and supporting other course representatives and liaising with staff to help improve the structure of the course. One of the ways I did this was by gathering feedback from students across all years and then feeding this back into committees and board meetings. Another role of the school convenor was to co-chair the MTH Student Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC).

In this role, I was responsible for representing Mathematics students in their third year on the SSLC. I would regularly have conversations with students and report their feedback in the meetings.

In this role, I tutored first year students alongside a fellow mentor. The aim was to boast the students' understanding and comprehension of the notoriously challenging pure mathematics module: 'Real Analysis'. The sessions lasted two hours and consisted of us going through a question sheet that had been previously set. We would demonstrate how to write proofs that were clear, concise and rigorous; essential skills in writing mathematics.

In December 2016, I fought and won an election to become the college’s FE Student Governor. I realised that this was a big responsibility but I desired to give something back to the college. It was a really useful experience going round the college and talking to other students about their concerns and I was honoured to get their votes. The board meetings required a sizable amount of preparation which included reading and scrutinising reports and analysing data.
