Investigated charge transport and resistance degradation mechanisms in barium titanate and strontiumtitanate. Designed, conducted, and analyzed the results of various time-resolved in situ electrical measurements including complex impedance spectroscopy and thermally stimulated depolarization current. Developed software to analyze, manipulate, and fit time-resolved electrical measurements.

Engaged classes of 30 middle school students in modern and relevant curriculum including 3D printing,programming micro:bit microprocessors, and robotics. Facilitated independent project work through student mastery of the design cycle. Empowered student leaders to compete in district robotics, engineering, coding, and design competitions.

Synthesized sodium niobate doped with lithium and tantalum and utilized x-ray diffraction, electron diffraction and Rietveld refinement to elucidate changes to the crystal structure of the ceramic.

Synthesized lead free piezoelectrics including sodium bismuth titanate and barium titanate. Prepared samples for ferroelectric hysteresis and strain measurements and characterized these properties using a linear voltage displacement transducer. Trained other uses on various lab equipment. Conducted experiments at both the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory (synchrotron X-ray diffraction) and the Lujan Scattering Center at Los Alamos National Laboratory (neutron position distribution functions).
