As Global Operations Manager I was charged with full safety and P&L responsibility over a fleet of 55 drill rigs, while standardising the Swick brand of all underground diamond drilling activities across the globe. I was ultimately responsible for safety, all operations personnel, quality control, productivity, maintenance and delivering value to the customers.The role included extensive travel as the operations were in Australia, Sudbury Canada, Nevada and Tennessee in the US and Neves Corvo mine in Portugal. My responsibilities extended to monthly reporting, budgeting, productivity, contract management, maintenance planning, operations, human resources and P&L accountability.

As Operations Manager APAC I was responsible for the whole Australian underground diamond drilling division. I was running up to 46 mobile carrier rigs with a team of approximately 360 employees. We had on site operations in Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania.The position responsibilities extended to monthly reporting, budgeting, productivity, contract management, maintenance planning, operations human resources and P&L accountability for the Australian operations.The role was based in the Guildford office with fifty percent of the time in the field ensuring quality control and client management.

As an Area Manager at Swick I was responsible for the regional sites in Western Australia. The role was full time in the field and had extensive travel as I was mobile and spent my days driving from site to site and ensuring the product and service to the customers was of the highest standard. I was responsible for the regions P&L and contract/client relations. The Swick mobile carrier rig evolved from its original design during this period and became more know in the industry as a highly productive drill rig. Drill sizes from BQ, BQTK, NQ2, HQ and HQ3 were all used in this period.

Regional Wa

As a site based supervisor I was responsible for the safety, health and wellbeing of all employees at site. I was accountable for the monthly targets and budgets being achieved and the quality control of the product. The Swick mobile carrier rig was used during this period. I was based at various sites in Western Australia from Long Shaft to Lawler's and Jundee. Drill sizes from BQ, NQ2, HQ and HQ3 were all used in this period.

Regional Wa

I started as a driller and through time was promoted to a supervisor. I was responsible for training the new trainee drillers up to the standards of the role. The role was required to carry out routine maintenance and also break down maintenance on the drill rigs. The rigs operated were Boart Longyear LM55, LM75, LM90 rigs. 700 and 1300 series feed frames. In this period of time I was at various sites across regional Western Australia. Drill sizes from BQ, NQ2, HQ and HQ3 were all used in this period.

Bronzewing

I started my underground career as an offsider and was quickly promoted to trainee driller. I was responsible for maintaining my rig and performing routine maintenance and break down maintenance on the drill rigs. The rigs operated were Boart Longyear LM30, LM75 and LMA90 electric and diesel. 700 and 1300 series feed frames. Drill sizes from BQ, NQ and HQ3 were used predominantly in the underground.

Regional Wa

I started my career as a surface diamond drilling offsider as we all do, at the shop floor so to speak. The rigs worked on were UDR1000 and UDR1500. The role required me to assist with the maintaining of the drill rig and all associated support vehicles and equipment. The drilling sizes were from BQ, NQ, HQ and HWT casing. Directional drilling activities were also undertaken. Sites worked at were Black Swan, Chalice Gold, Mount Gibson and Weld Range.
