Profile bio

About Jared Miller

I am a peacebuilding, anti-corruption, and governance professional with nine years of experience as a practitioner and researcher. I focus on Sub-Saharan Africa with a country focus on Nigeria where I previously worked to support community-based peacebuilding programs. I am currently a Senior Associate with the Corruption, Justice, and Legitimacy Program working on how social norms drive and perpetuate corruption, and what that means for anti-corruption strategies. I'm also a Researcher with the World Peace Foundation analyzing political systems where corruption is systemic and how these political systems contribute and respond to major shocks (e.g. humanitarian crises, loss of oil revenues, and violent extremism). Outside of this work, I'm also pursuing a PhD in International Relations at Tufts University focusing on how community-based peacebuilding strengthens accountable governance in contexts of systemic corruption.

Listed skills include Facebook, Politics, Foreign Policy, Social Media, and 13 others.

Medford, Ma

As a Research Assistant for Dr. Eileen Babbitt and the Henry J. Sep 2017 - May 2020

Research Fellow

Henry J. Leir Institute For Human Security, Tufts University

Chicago, Il

Building on my previous work with the Institute, I conducted a research project on whether inclusive decision-making processes were a significant factor in determining a government’s legitimacy. I conducted the research in Chicago, IL, USA due to the legacy of corruption and exclusionary politics that parallel the dynamics in many post-conflict countries. This study culminated in my master’s thesis which argued that meaningful inclusion in policy-making processes was a significant factor determining the legitimacy of the Chicago City government from 1955 to 1976 and that machine politics in Chicago during this period undermined democratic processes. Online availability forthcoming.
