    ProVeg International is a food awareness organisation with the mission to reduce the global consumption of animals by 50% by 2040, and is active in 9 regions.• I mentor and provide support to Country Directors in Poland, the Netherlands, the UK, Czechia, Spain, Germany, South Africa, China, and the US, the Grant Director, and the Director of Communications • I oversee international operations and compliance; set the strategy jointly with the President, and support governance of all entities except ProVeg Germany. I lead the communications and advocacy department and support fundraising, research, impact and other departments.• I support expansion to other countries, and together with the President, oversee the ($1m) global ProVeg Grants program. • Starting in Oct 2019, I transformed the Communications and advocacy department into a highly effective team. Media coverage increased over tenfold compared to 2018 (despite coronavirus-dominated news), and an Oct 2020 policy campaign led to over 200 pieces of coverage, including NYT, BBC, top-ten most read Guardian articles. Website and social media metrics have also been boosted significantly. In May 2021, we overturned EU plans to censor plant-based dairy through an innovative advocacy campaign. I co-founded the Plant-based Food Alliance UK in 2021 and in Feb 2022, I became Co-Chair of the EAPF. • ProVeg (170+ staff) has professionalised in the past 3 years, gaining multiple awards (including from the UN), and we celebrated achievements in the food industry and policy change• I developed an organisational logical model and improved the annual planning process resulting in a more focused and joined-up organisation• I initiated significant organisational development improvements including but not limited to: HR policies and processes, reporting and evaluation, work culture, international coordination and integration, and governance• I raised funds for our work in Poland, South Africa, Spain and China

    In 2006 I founded the UK political Animal Welfare Party (formerly ‘Animals Count’), modelled on the successful Dutch Party for the Animals for which I was a candidate in European Parliament elections in 2004 and General Elections in 2010. I led Animals Count for four years, and coordinated three UK election campaigns:- 2008 London Assembly elections- 2009 European Parliament elections - 2010 General ElectionsSupported by volunteers I raised thousands of pounds for elections. I developed governance structures; managed the accounts; drafted detailed animal welfare and other manifesto policies; engaged celebrities, including Twiggy, Brian May and Prof. Peter Singer; developed two websites, conducted TV and radio media interviews; coordinated public campaigns; worked with dozens of animal charities; responded to UK and EU consultations; and met with MPs and MEPs of other political parties. In October 2010 I stepped down as Party Leader, and handed over responsibilities to Vanessa Hudson. I am no longer actively involved with either the UK or the Dutch Party for the Animals. However, in my current role, I will work with politicians from across the political spectrum.
