I am a highly experienced and expert brand and communications specialist, currently Senior Writer for global food awareness organisation ProVeg International.I am also a photographer, published author, branding adviser and creativity workshop adviser: I believe that creativity lies at the heart of all progress – personal, professional, and organisational.I previously headed up Communications and Business Development for a pioneering international humanitarian-tech charity called Talk To Loop.I have also recently worked in senior interim communications roles for NHS England, and for a consortium of Local Authorities in the East of England.My career has spanned being Creative Director of agencies, running my own successful independent consultancy, various in-house roles (commercial and charitable), as well as my earlier background in the NHS (both as a registered nurse and as a senior manager).I am also a successful entrepreneur in my own right, having founded and launched, and then sold, two made-in-Britain clothing businesses: Shackleton, and Blackshore. I also created and ran a successful online musical instrument retail business, and I have advised other entrepreneurs through organisations like Make It British and others.In addition I have delivered keynotes and workshops on branding and communications all over the UK and around the world (frequently reviewed as best speaker), including TEDx, and I’ve returned to University of East Anglia many times as a Business Fellow, to deliver masterclasses on M.Sc and MBA programmes.As an author, I've had three books published commercially, most notably my brand book for small business 'Build A Brand In 30 Days' (Capstone) which has been an Amazon No.1 bestseller and has been in print constantly since publication in 2010.I have had leadership roles across every aspect of communications (internal and external) from brand development, to marketing, social media, and PR, as well as video production, conference speaking internationally, and numerous broadcast media appearances (including appearing on Newsnight, BBC Breakfast, Sky News, Bloomberg, and many more).I was the Head of Marketing at vegan confectioner Booja-Booja, where I oversaw the brand's growth and development in the highly competitive food sector. Before that, I was an independent consultant on brand and communications issues, advising brands including: Harris Tweed Authority, Aviva, Pret A Manger, Norfolk Broads National Park, World Vision, and many more.
