Legal Advocate at Leadership Counsel for Justice & Accountability; working as an Equal Justice Works (EJW) Fellow sponsored by Weil, Gotshal, & Manges, LLP from 2023–2025. At Leadership Counsel, I spend my time advancing my EJW project around using California's Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Law (AFFH) (AB-686, Cal. 2018) to advance safe, affordable, healthy, and sustainable communities alongside and on behalf of rural low-income communities of color in the San Joaquin Valley. Through legal technical support to local cities and counties, enforcement litigation against local agencies violating their AFFH duties, and conducting policy advocacy and training around continued robust enforcement around AFFH, I work alongside community residents and in partnership with equity organizations across the state to advance the rights of low-income residents and communities of color who have been historically, systemically, and continually subjected to racist land use policies, displacement, unhealthy environments, exclusive decisionmaking processes, and housing-cost burdens.

Conducted high-impact research and consulting projects related to law and policy for clients in the education sector and engaged in rigorous coursework, skills training, and real-world experiential learning at Columbia University. Enhanced personal skills through CPRL’s intensive, full-semester program; immersed myself in the theory and practice of managing, governing, and transforming school systems and organizations. 1. Improved skills in design, governance, regulation, democratic accountability, and transformation of school systems and allied public- and social-sector organizations through seminar work.2. Attained skills training designed to develop competencies needed to improve school systems, including strategy creation, qualitative data collection and review, measurement, problem-solving, design thinking, visual communication, and stakeholder engagement, including issues related to diversity and inclusion.3. Consulted on a project which included opportunities for design, strategic planning, and implementation support on matters that combine management, law, governance, policy, and educational knowledge and skills with an interdisciplinary team of students.

Advanced Clinical Student, August 2022 – December 2022: Collaborated with Assemblymember Luz Rivas’ Office through research and recommendations for better extreme heat standards and incorporation of environmental justice, protecting the most vulnerable communities. Clinical Student, August 2021 – December 2021: Collaborated with Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia’s Office through research and recommendations for better protections for outdoor workers related to poor air quality and extreme heat. Resulted in AB-2243 (Cal. 2022).

Conducted research, stakeholder interviews, and drafting for technical advisory on more robust community engagement under CEQA. Researched and wrote a memorandum regarding Section 100 nonregulatory rule making regarding CEQA. Assisted the Legal Department on research, legal review, and memoranda regarding discrete internal questions regarding the Legal Team’s role as general counsel to OPR. Assisted in the formulation of the Legal and Legislative Teams’ concrete actionable items they plan to achieve in 2023 regarding OPR’s Racial Equity Action Plan.

Researched and advanced the Supervisor’s motions around phasing out oil and gas in Los Angeles County. Analyzed, evaluated, and explored funding sources, county priorities, and paths forward regarding phaseout for The County. Researched land restitution legal concerns and paths forward.

Work closely with Account Manager to understand the nuances of the school culture. Attain school goals and ensure that school is Westlaw preferred. Assist Account Manager with administrative tasks. Maintain Westlaw presence on campus. Educate students on the benefits of West products and cultivate new business opportunities. Create and execute local marketing activities

Participate in immense national leadership training and take on projects advancing the President's ambitious agenda in the areas of voting rights, combating police brutality, advocating criminal justice reform and reparations, and eliminating public health disparities based on race. Receiving mentorship from an assigned NBA officer, cabinet member, or President Moore’s Chief of Staff, Charles Tucker, Jr., Esq.

Analyzed multiple case files, including pleadings, motions, and exhibits. Assessed legal arguments made by parties. Researched case law and statutory law. Prepared judicial orders and memoranda.

Established a leadership project that promotes social change. Received leadership skills and training from social change experts and current sitting U.S. congresspeople to gain skills in political, campaign, and organizing capacities. Enhanced skills in coalition building, power-mapping, and leadership.

Provided one on one intervention therapy to children under the age of five with a diagnosis of autism. Intervention therapy was consistent with the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA), including Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT), Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). I collected and analyzed data, prepared presentations, attended clinical meetings, and provided feedback to parents and guardians regarding daily activities of clients.

I provide support to a K-4 Social and Emotional Learning classroom with students who have cognitive-behavioral challenges as a teacher's aide. I help implement lesson plans with individual students. I assist students in staying on task and completing necessary work. I notify students of inappropriate behavior and help them cognitively learn to understand that their actions have consequences and I use cognitive behavioral techniques to teach students of expected classroom behavior.

I care for a three-year-old boy and one-year-old boy. I help children develop habits of caring for hygiene and cleanliness, have observed and monitored play activities, prepared nourishing meals and snacks, provided a structured environment for preschool children and taught them basic skills such as dressing and toileting, and have been responsible for the safety, discipline, and personal care of both children.

As the volunteer events intern for the United Way of Salt Lake, I provide support on the logistics, communication, marketing, and overall execution of the summer volunteer events. Specifically, I am one of the lead staff members in charge of United Way of Salt Lake's Day of Action. To support students in the Salt Lake Valley, Day of Action's 250 volunteers will do a variety of projects to change a life, change a school, and change a community. Volunteers will pack snack and hygiene kits for students, deep clean classrooms, and help repaint the dance on the baseball field. My job as lead staff has included coordinating the logistics of the event such as: creating supply lists, ordering and insuring the delivery of supplies, mapping out the location of projects, marketing the event on social media and hanging flyers, securing in kind donations for food and opportunity drawings, and securing local agencies to table about their organizations at the event. I've also written a training plan for lead staff members and an overall overview for general staff. I will supervise the execution of the event on the day of and be the point person on that day for anything.In addition to this, I am helping with the logistics of another event called Stuff the Bus. This event is focused on providing school supplies for over 12,000 students in 30 schools preparing them to enter the classroom ready to learn. It involves having groups and organizations host supply drives before the event and then having 500 volunteers help stuff backpacks on the actual day of the event. This task involves me providing support to other staff and assisting in the logistics of this event. I also have helped market for the needs of the event and assist in communication of outside partners.

This experience has been an incredible work experience, but more importantly, it has helped me become a better leader. I oversaw 46 residents in an Honors Thesis Mentoring Living Learning Community. It was my responsibility to be a support, resource, and aid to my residents. This job has taught me many things. One major aspect of this job is being able to understand how to implement and teach curriculum. Every event I take my residents to, every bulletin board I create, and many conversations I have are aimed at helping residents achieve the goals outlined in curriculum.I've also learned how to manage my time well. I've also gained great skills in conflict resolution, customer service, and public speaking. As an RA, I have to help residents navigate conflicts with their roommates, help do my best to direct residents to resources and information they need, and direct community meetings where I give residents information and implement lesson plans.

In the lab of Dr. Monisha Pasupathi I spent 143 hours studying the effects and impacts of studies revolving around storytelling. Some of the tasks I performed were transcription of conversational data, coding of data, and running participants in a current study. The work in this lab focused on storytelling and different aspects of emotions, relationships, and even video game playing in respect to it.

This was a pre-healthcare fellowship with the opportunity to observe medical practices in different countries around the world. In Terceira Island, Portugal, I learned real world applications of international healthcare and had interactions within cross cultural medicine. I also had exposure to different medical specialties through rotation work of different departments. I learned about the Portuguese healthcare system and was able to compare it to the American healthcare system and became competent in beginner level conversational Portuguese and learned about the Portuguese culture.
