About Jason Link

I am a Cancer Cell Biologist and Immunologist with primary experience in patient-derived models of cancer (PDMCs) and clinical informatics. I currently oversee generation, validation and drug-response assays of PDMCs including cell lines, 3D models with cell lines, organoids, and patient-derived xenografts for OHSU's participation in a U01 Consortium on Patient-Derived Models of Cancer. I additionally focus on clinical case studies of patients with exceptionally positive outcomes after diagnosis with pancreatic adenocarcinoma. To facilitate these research interests, I have created and maintain a database that connects specimen- and PDMC-level results (e.g., gene-expression-based subtypes, genomic alterations, leukocyte densities, drug responses, etc) with robust clinical data I have collected and curated from patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma. This database has allowed our group to identify relationships between newly-defined clinical cohorts, outcomes, and disease characteristics. Research Interests: Pancreatic Cancer, Lymphoma, PDXs, Organoids, Cell Lines, Patient-Dervied Models of Cancer, Drug Discovery, MYC-Mediated Oncogenesis, Cancer Cell Biology, Immunology, Tumor Immunity, Autoimmunity, Cell Metabolism

Jason Link Work Experience Details
  • Ohsu | Oregon Health & Science University
    Research Assistant Professor
    Ohsu | Oregon Health & Science University Dec 2014 - Feb 2022
At the Brenden-Colson Center for Pancreatic Care at OHSU, I initiated and oversaw the generation and validation of multiple patient-derived models of cancer, and I collected and curated clinical information into a database that connects disease progression in patients to myriad features of pancreatic tumors. A primary goal of my work was to support future precision oncology by rapidly deciphering molecular features of tumor cells and the tumor microenvironment and connecting this data to patient outcomes.
  • Shriners Hospitals For Children
    Research Fellow
Shriners Hospitals For Children Apr 2008 - Sep 2013
    Portland, Oregon Area
At the Knight Cancer Institute and Shriners Hospital I completed a major project to identify the physiological purpose of Mnt (a Myc-oncogene family member). I used a series of novel transgenic and knockout mouse models to demonstrate that Mnt supports oncogenesis and is a viable target for cancer therapeutics.Link JM and Hurlin PJ (2013) MYC needs MNT. Cell Cycle. 12(3):385-6.Link JM, Ota S, Zhou ZQ, Daniel CJ, Sears RC, Hurlin PJ (2012). A critical role for Mnt in Myc-driven T cell proliferation and oncogenesis. Proc Natl Acad Sci USA. 109(48):19685–19690.
  • Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center
    Associate Investigator
Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center Feb 2006 - Feb 2008
    Portland, Oregon Area
At the Portland VA Medical Center I made essential academic and technical contributions to a successful IND application for a drug that recently completed Phase 1 clinical trials. Specifically, I published pre-clinical drug efficacy and safety results of a Multiple Sclerosis drug (RTL1000) as the primary author. Additionally, I determined the minimum effective dose and maximum tolerated dose in humanized mouse models, and I developed the techniques needed to identify the drug in serum and antibodies raised against it.
