Following my voluntary redundancy, I set up Lamooka Ltd as a co-founder with a business partner with a view to return to the IT sector after 4-5 years once the company was established. The key fundamentals included producing a business plan; researching and understanding the requirements of the market; compliance with UK and EU legislation (chemist certification and insurance); establishing budgets and costings; estimation of time scales and dependencies; business to business meetings with suppliers (including negotiation and vendor management); design of corporate branding (including website, company logo, product labels and packaging); manufacturing and testing products; marketing considerations (including barcodes, QR codes, social media, advertising and sales channels); Networking.The company is now established and managed on a daily basis by the co-director leaving me free to return to my preferred vocation of software testing.

During my early years at Cheltenham & Gloucester Building Society, the Systems Analysts carried out system testing as well as requirements gathering, analysis and design. In 2004 a new IT Testing Services department was formed and I opted to join the team as a Test Analyst. During this time, the takeover of C&G and HBOS resulted in the formation of Lloyds Banking Group. I joined Cheltenham & Gloucester Building Society in July 1997 as a Systems Analyst. Responsible for requirements gathering, analysis, design, program and system specification, and testing. The system testing and test management would later be assigned to a new QA (Testing) department established in 2004.I established an extensive knowledge of the Mortgage (Application and Administration) system and Investment software systems and was heavily involved in the migration of these systems to a new platform.I also spent a couple of years working in a small team analysing, developing and delivering solutions for ‘small’ projects with a lifecycle of less than 9 months. The ‘fast tracked’ IT projects used a structured in-house methodology similar to SSADM which yielded huge cost saving benefits for the business with minimal IT development cost.
