Technical Product Lead

Rogersville, Missouri, United States

As a technical product lead with EDUCAUSE, I work with a talented, passionate, and driven group of people--a strong association that builds IT-empowered solutions to unlock new paradigms in higher education. We are part of an amazing effort to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in all aspects of educational planning and practice. Through our work, we empower educators and institutions to have critical resources to best host their complete audience of students. New mindsets are required to no longer scope success to a technical solution, its creators, or its owners. Incredible effort is needed to break the bonds of our current norms, to create an education system in which DEI can thrive. Systems are now being structured to help instructors identify educational resources and strategies that are most meaningful to their learners. Through use of these tools and resources, instructors can make a concerted investment in student engagement, improving outcomes where most needed.Furthermore, in our work we desire success for each student, not only the institution or instructor. Each individual is recognized and supported as being unique, empowered, and centered in their own experience. Each student is living their own truth, and each is best capable of achieving their full growth potential when they help inform their education process. It isn't unique to higher education; outcomes are improved when individuals are directly respected, listened to, and supported through their engagements with a given system. We must identify and negate bias, elevate and normalize the voices and perspectives of the marginalized, and re-center those at the fringe of current and historical affairs. We cannot simply hope for new outcomes while recreating traditional system patterns and power hierarchies. We must achieve meaningful and compassionate systems that serve everyone. Let's level the playing field through new approaches to systems and design; let's change the world.
