I currently work as a member of Team RAPTOR as part of a greater collaboration with Headquarters Air Force (HAF) Air Combat Command (ACC)’s A6IO Cyber Security Assurance Division, headed by Colonel Chad Raduege. As one of Team RAPTOR’s Subject Matter Experts (SME), I perform evaluations of information systems through the risk management framework (RMF) lifecycle by utilizing DISA’s Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS), Vulnerator, and STIG Viewer tools. I work to expeditiously process System Categorizations (RMF Step 1), Security Plans (RMF Step 2), and Risk Assessment packages (RMF Steps 4 & 5) as an authority from both the Air Force Enterprise and the DoD Mission Partner Environment (MPE). I also perform peer reviews of packages from other team members to ensure that the work that my team and I provide meets our high standards. As my assessments dictate the length of an information system’s Authorization to Operate (ATO), I am notoriously firm in handling my RMF work as I am acutely aware that any issues left unchecked can result in potentially leaving an information system operational with unmitigated vulnerabilities for months or years. After a year of involvement with RMF assignments, I was asked to assist with creating and formatting full system guides on each step of the RMF lifecycle. These system guides are designed to expand upon the information provided in the DoD’s RMF Knowledge Service in order to provide an easy-to-follow walkthrough for customers to reference as they work to prepare their information systems for an ATO.

Deskside Support Technician

Provided laptops and tech support to contractors and military personnel of all ranks to support the Defense Health Agency and Military Health System. Personnel included medics, nurses, and analysts that actively worked to understand and combat the COVID-19 crisis. Main tasks involved running diagnostics, imaging computers for deployment, performing quality assurance testing on newly imaged computers to ensure software licenses were active, and verifying that approved software was up to date through Software Center (using automated PowerShell scripts to run through multiple software checks). I profiled computers for clients (setting up Outlook, publishing their CAC certificates to the Global Address List, mapping their network shared drives, setting up VPNs, etc), used Active Directory to enable client accounts and added clients to the proper organizational units/groups. I assisted clients with office move requests by transferring their workstations from one office to another while providing, connecting and testing/troubleshooting their workstation at their new office before mapping network printers for use. Additionally, I also provided Microsoft Office (often Outlook) troubleshooting and remote desktop support through SolarWinds DameWare (installing software, patching out of date software, troubleshooting). Tasked with training other new employees since as early as my fourth week. I addressed and patched compliance issues as well as performed vulnerability remediation with Tenable Nessus. I also created local and remote accounts for computers for out-of-state clients that needed their GFE shipped out to them.
