I lead a diverse team of engineers on co-engineering projects with Microsoft's largest customers. I have had the same team for several years, but we moved inside our org to Solution Ops (still in Industry Solutions Engineering). Now we are primarily focused on Generative AI, and LLM engineering for business impact.We spend a large part of our time teaching partner engineering orgs how to use best practices for engineering fundamentals, Azure Dev Ops, ML Ops, etc.

Lead a diverse engineering team across the US in the Industry Aligned Retail portion of Commercial Software Engineering (CSE). We are focused on writing code, and teaching partners how to do it themselves, for their next generation cloud based architectures. We spend a considerable portion of our time teaching partner developers how to use best practices in Azure, GitHub, Azure Dev Ops and just development in general. Our goal is to level up the engineers of our partners to make them more effective at cloud based applications, while also moving their code forward through pair programming and teaming with them on their actual projects.

I was a Senior Technology Evangelist on the Commercial ISV Team that is part of DX. I worked directly with a very small number of partners to help with architect their applications to move to the cloud. This included teaching patterns and best practices, and sample code to help them understand how problems could be approached in the cloud.I helped partners set strategy on products, adopt new technology, resolve technical hurdles, get into technical preview programs, perform architectural design sessions, and more. Was frequently invited to speak at internal developer events with the partners. Also spoke at TechEd, and Build.

I worked on the Azure Top Deals team to bring large customers to the Microsoft Azure Cloud platform. Most of this involved training partner organizations on new patterns and practices related to the cloud. Running architectural design sessions and helping those same partners to architect their applications for scale out and high availability in the cloud were also key parts of the job.I was able to successfully help four major partners get their applications to the market on Microsoft Azure in a timely manner.

Software Development Engineer working on SQL Server Manageability team. Worked on the Import Export technology stack, including the DAC components and the Azure service to process the jobs. Wrote all of the sample for the docs, and helped the technical writers with the review of the official documentation.Later switched teams to work on the SQL Azure Silverlight portal and other related portals for customers. We built the first portal for Azure SQL Database in Sliverlight, and then had to rebuild it in HTML 5.

VistaDB is a 100% managed code database for .Net Developers.In addition was the lead developer and architect. I was also performing marketing and sales of the technical products, and acting as a technical evangelist. I wrote technical articles, and blogs about VistaDB and managed dot net code in general. I really enjoyed writing code and designing portions of the engine for future systems. I also participated heavily in StackOverflow areas on SQL, and was in the top 6% worldwide for answering questions about SQL.(I sold this company when I joined Microsoft)

VP Research for content filtration technology. I built the crawler and classification system that determined the category of a website based upon a weighted machine learning algorithm of inbound and outbound links to the site.The purpose of the technology was to protecting children and families online. It was also used by business to prevent employees from visiting bad sites while at work.

Emerald was a technology company. We didn't normally sell the product directly. We work behind the scenes to power other companies applications and systems. There are systems for web crawling, web classification, IP information, spam filtration, web filtration, and more.Emerald Technology has been sold to CyberPatrol LLC and I joined them VP of Research for a six month period to transition the technology.

I was in charge of a development team for a 3D Engine used in games. We also built a series of games for companies in Japan for distribution. Our largest release in the US was Helicops (PC Game). We primarily used C++, and were one of the early adopters of DirectX and MMX for use in gaming.

Did both Active Duty and National Guard in Texas and Florida. I don't list my MOS or duty stations because they are not relevant to what I do today. I was in Army Aviation at the time, but do not fly today. I consider my military service time to be one of the best things I have ever done in my life. Serving your country goes back to 1776 in my family, at least one male in each family has served all the back to the Revolutionary War. My father retired from US Army with 26 years of service.
