I’ve had several roles throughout my tenure at Edmunds. When I started, my core function was modernizing an internal, critical business system. I was responsible for supporting, maintaining and ultimately re-architecting this service such that our core inventory systems were measurably improved over time. I worked on this system with 2 direct reports and 2 offshore engineers.In 2017, in an effort to grow myself, I moved to a more product engineering and cross functional role. My function here has been to deliver value, through our product teams with modern technology and lean thinking. My primary job function at PAML was to facilitate point to point messaging in the JCAPS enterprise integration engine. Additionally, I was responsible for training, tooling, R&D, architecture and tier 4 software technical support. As an integration engineer I was given the flexibility to continually improve company processes through cutting edge internally developed tooling, modern development techniques and consistent training. At Pentad I learned that programming has "domains", that as a programmer you cannot simply learn how to write conditionals, loops, classes, recursion, etc. You must also learn specifics about the domain that you are working in in order to effectively contribute.
