I am an advisor for the Product Development Process and I study and research human balance and falls from an engineering and machine perspective in disabled and other populations and organizations to determine the reason for falls and create solutions to prevent falling including equipment and training. >> As a licensed Mechanical Engineer with a PhD in in Mechanical Engineering and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, I study the biomechanics of balance, including forces and motions that enable the human body to maintain stability and equilibrium. I analyze how muscles, joints, and sensory inputs collaborate to facilitate posture control and movement. Also, I develop solutions crucial for improving sports performance, rehabilitation, and preventing falls in various populations. Falls are dangerous and costly; and I formulate strategic initiatives to capitalize on opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage. >> I create and analyze (physical) human interfaces using digital human models.

This was followed by an investigation that supported Leibowitz’s hypothesis that larger objects appear to approach more slowly than smaller objects approaching at the same or even slower speeds.<< As a professor, I developed a set of laboratory experiments for use in a Mechanical Engineering experiments course and advised the instructor and teaching assistant in guiding the class through them. I also guided and evaluated students in the performance of their research activities. << I prepared and delivered guest lectures for three upper-division undergraduate elective courses in Engineering and Bio-Engineering (15-20 students each) on the following topics: Signal detection theory and its application to the human visual system; Fundamentals of automatic control and its application to human operator models and analyses; Fundamentals of systems identification and its application to the human visual system.
