I have over 5 years of experience working in customer service, including 4 years working in a management position. I recently graduated from Carrington College's Vocational Nursing program, where I served as the Student Representative, maintained a 3.9 GPA, and received the Clinical Excellence award at the end of the program. I also have several degrees from Sierra College, including an AA in Women's Studies, AA in Deaf Studies, AA in LGBT Studies, AS in Natural Sciences, and an AS in Allied Health - Pre-Nursing Option.During my nursing program, I developed a nursing style founded on human connection and education. I noticed that in long-term care, what many residents needed more than anything was to be listened to and recognized. Taking the time out of my day to sit with residents made me a better nurse. It also gave me a credibility with these residents; when it came time to educate them on their medications, disease processes, or treatments, they were more willing to listen and apply what I said because of my reputation. I hope to find a job that will allow me to continue nursing with empathy and compassion at the forefront of my practice.
