Tertiary/quaternary multi-facility health system providing health services in the greater Atlanta, Georgia area. In addition, Emory provides contract management services to a health system in suburban Atlanta. Serves as CFO of its contract managed health system in Riverdale, GA, consisting of a 331 bed community hospital, a multi-specialty physician group practice, an ambulatory surgery and imaging center as well as several other subsidiaries. Management focus has been to develop a financial and business turnaround plan, and improve cash in-flow and “bottom line” operating performance. Examples of the types of actions performed include:- Adoption by local Board of multi-phase business turnaround plan to return to profitability- Executive leadership for the implementation of fully integrated primary information system - Negotiations with local taxing authority to obtain public funding for indigent care services- Commencement of a major cost reduction initiative to meet anticipated shortfalls, the result of healthcare reform- Completion of a bond defeasance process to eliminate $42 million in long term debt via a cooperative venture with the county government- Reorganization of Case Management function in an effort to improve the clinical performance and throughput of patients to assist in length of stay reduction and improve resource utilization - Creation of a multi-million dollar working capital line of credit to facilitate optimum cash flow management- Short term and long term strategic and financial planning initiatives as part of the turnaround effort in coordination with Emory’s strategic planning effort for the region
