I work at Fortinet as a Systems Engineer covering SLED accounts in Alabama. It is a very team oriented environment with a great group of Engineers and Sales Reps who all work togethor to achieve the company goals. Fortinet has a large portfolio of products that can all work togethor to create a Security Fabric for orginizations. From their Next Generation Firewall that accounts for almost half of all Firewalls shipped each year to their Switches, Access Points, NAC systems, and so on, the products are great. I look forward to learning all of these products and providing services through these products to my customers and meeting their needs.

I worked for Palo Alto Networks as a Systems Engineer covering State, Local, and Education(SLED). My territory was Alabama, Mississippi, and Western Tennessee(Memphis). It was an exciting place to work, fast paced, and a very innovative company. I got to work with a great team of folks that were engineers and sales representatives that came from all kinds of different backgrounds. During my time there the company grew very rapidly, adding new products, new people, new teams and new territories. It was a great experience and I certainly learned a lot while I was there.

The timing was excellent to take a position with Citrix Systems Inc. My previous employer was being acquired and Citrix was looking for someone with my skill set to fill a Network Sales Engineer position that they had open. In this position, I am part of a South East team that consists of a group of very talented and professional people. My role as a Network Sales Engineer is to provide technical sales support for the Network Sales Specialist that I work with on a weekly basis. We primarily focus on Citrix’s network products which include Netscaler, CloudBridge, and associated network applications. Netscaler is an Application Delivery Controller (ADC) which can perform many functions such as load balancing, content switching, gateway services, traffic shaping, and much more. CloudBridge is a WAN accelerator product that provides data caching, optimization, and compression across WAN links. Citrix has a great culture unlike any I have experienced. The company is recognized as a worldwide leader of cloud computing products and in fact is considered a pioneer in this technology sector. I look forward to my adventures at Citrix and getting to meet new and existing customers throughout the South East.

My role at Colonial Properties Trust(CLP) was that of Network Manager, Engineer, and Architect for the entire CLP Company and Network. This network was made up of 140 Multi Family office locations and included 3 core locations which were our Executive offices, Corporate offices, and DR location. As the Network Manager, I delegated tasks to other Network Engineers, reviewed annual vendor and service contracts, and worked with upper management on budgets and purchasing of new equipment. As a Network Engineer, I provided Level 3 and 4 network support to CLP as well as support and mentoring to other Network Engineers. As an Architect, I planed, designed, and implemented all new network build outs, major changes, and technologies that went into CLPs network. I worked directly with CLP construction and technology Project Managers in the process. CLP's network included Cisco VoIP, Wireless, Security, UCS(Blade Servers, Stand-Alone) and of course Routing and Switching products as well. We used EMC SANs and NASs that were connected to Cisco UCS servers via Cisco Fibre Channel switches, Nexus switches, and switches that were using iSCSI as a transport. We also had F5 Big IP Load Balancers that we used for our external and internal web applications and financial systems. CLP was a purely VMware environment.CLP was a great place to work. However, on June 3rd 2013, an announcement was made that CLP was being purchased by Mid-American Apartments out of Memphis, TN. I decided it was time to move on as I had some job opportunities that showed up at just the right time. I had three great years at CLP and will miss working with those folks, the technology, and the company culture. Sometimes though, you have to end one adventure and start another.

I worked at BBVA Compass in their NOC on a large scale VoIP project being deployed. Once completed, the ROI is expected to be noticed quickly, as many local site PBX contracts, Telco contracts, and vendor support contracts can either be eliminated or consolidated. I was exposed to several technologies and devices that only a VoIP deployment of this size would have installed. The strong routing and switching background from my past positions had allowed me to build stronger knowledge with VoIP as a solid infrastructure is crucial to its success. After the VoIP project came to an end, I decided to move on to other challenges and left for Colonial Properties Trust. BBVA Compass was a good place and I learned quite a bit about VoIP while there.

Clear Winds is a Cisco Re-seller so naturally I was exposed to many products sold by Cisco. Products that I supported were Cisco layer 2 and 3 switches, routers, wireless, ACS servers, security devices like the PIX and ASA, and VoIP which includes Cisco's Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and their VoIP Express products. This job provided me with a great deal of exposure to VMware which I greatly enjoyed working with as it is such an innovative technology. I also worked with Check Point Firewalls and learned a great deal about Check Point products.

I took the position at Healthsouth as a junior level engineer and this was when I moved into networking from servers. Healthsouth had a huge network with over 2000 T1 lines connecting large Hospitals, surgery centers, diagnostic centers and clinics. I met a lot of interesting people at Healthsouth and in the process gained some good friends. By the time I left, I was a senior level engineer.

I worked at the Data Center in Hoover, and worked with Microsoft Windows Servers and IBM Lotus Notes. Most of my time was spent consolidating the Alabama Lotus Notes environment, as Bellsouth was moving entirely over to Microsoft Exchange as a primary mail platform.

Sonat was a great place to work. I was basically a Windows Server Admin, Legato Networker Admin and Lotus Notes Admin while working there. El Paso Energy out of Texas acquired Sonat in 1999 and I moved on to Bellsouth.
