I develop and update prompts for emergency dispatchers worldwide, such as 911. I manage translation technology and translation projects with a team of translators who translate our materials into various languages, making it possible to localize these tools and materials to several countries. I also proofread those translated materials in their various languages and work as a liaison for remote translators in China and Lithuania.

Orem, Utah

I make tutorial videos for clients, vendors and project managers who use Fluency Flow and the Fluency Translation Suite. I am implementing these videos and much more into a company wiki I have built. I test the software, reporting any bugs and/or improvements to be made. Together, our team is making sure this tool is as efficient and versatile as its much more expensive competitors. I helped build up the pseudo localization tool to ensure proper encoding for 97 languages, covering all essential scripts used in modern day. I have trained other interns as well.

I manage a small group of fellow senior students involved in a student project known as the Maxwell Institute Authorship Attribution Project (MAAP). This project involves transcribing documents relevant to the LDS church that were not previously available in digital format. We proofread our work several times and it is submitted into a database where a perl program can determine the author by statistically analyzing the writing style.

I worked for FedEx office performing a variety of tasks for four years. These included customer service, digital printing and copying, scanning, auxiliary services (binding, cutting etc.), use of the Adobe suite, setting up and checking documents, completing very large and very urgent projects, working in a high stress level environment, packing, shipping and machine maintenance and troubleshooting. I worked both in teams and alone, even on graveyard shifts for a long time. I often had to use programs I had never seen that clients would bring in. Very often, unforeseen obstacles would arise and I was able to make do with limited resources for the customer. I finally left this position in order to further focus on my schooling at Brigham Young University.

At Peninsula News Network, I performed a variety of tasks in the production of a local television news program that aired daily. I worked on a small team skilled in video production. I worked mostly on producing graphics, producing commercial advertisements for clients, editing weather and event segments, building a general timeline for the show, setting up and operating a video camera, and occasionally writing short articles or camera shooting sports in the field. This business has since been closed.
