As co-owner of the gym, my first task was to organize our business administration so management could focus on building the business rather than maintaining a member database. Automated almost all managerial functions through software and created a preventative maintenance schedule to ensure smooth, safe operation of the facility. Acted as a personal trainer/consultant for gym members.

Hired to act as Syncrude Research project stakeholder in planning and development of plant testing based on previously completed lab-level research. Completed authoring of instruction manual for LHCS High-speed Imaging Slurry Analysis process.

Original 1-year co-op position was extended another 4 months to allow me to help complete recently planned and initiated projects. Co-op chemistry student position performing oil sand bitumen extraction research at Syncrude Canada's research facility in Edmonton, Alberta. Helped design and complete the LHCS High-speed Digital Imaging Slurry Analysis project. Helped complete batch and semi-continuous extraction chemical testing, including statistical mass-balance calculations and other excel-intensive modelling.

Student position involved primary field work, collecting surface/drinking water samples for the Community Watershed Project. Office time was spent updating files in the Contaminated Sites Registry and updating/publishing the Department's websites using Dreamweaver software package. Was also involved in a research project designed to attempt to correlate heavy smog days with air quality measurements taken within Kamloops.I was offered an extension of my internship but had to decline as I had already accepted an student position with Syncrude Canada Ltd. at their research facility in Edmonton, AB.
