About James O'Donnell

James O'Donnell is a Release Train Engineer at Learning Pool. He possess expertise in product management, agile methodologies, creative writing, photoshop, html and 15 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "James’ super-power is his ability to relax a room of people and make them feel comfortable to share whatever they want to say. James quickly became part of the furniture and has become a treasured member of the team introducing Scrum to our Data Cloud, Analytics, and then Automation teams and handing over those responsibilities for two of those teams to a new Scrum Master which James has coached. In a somewhat uncommon position for a Scrum Master, but a position that has worked well in this case, James has also been line managing four developers - setting their objectives, doing weekly catch-ups, sorting out 360 reviews, managing their holidays, and helping them with whatever they need. Beyond being a Scrum Master for those teams, James has also been coaching our Shadow Scrum Masters in 2022 and 2023 as part of our Shadow Role initiative where developers get to shadow certain roles. He’s also became the Leader of our Scrum Master Community of Practice, facilitating conversations between all Scrum Masters across the organisation to help them and improve agile practices, utilising his own continued research into Scrum and the coaching he receives externally off his own back. In addition to all of this, with the help of an Agile Coach and another Release Train Engineer at the company, James has orchestrated the transition of 5 (soon to be 6 teams) into a new Agile Release Train using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) as the acting Release Train Engineer for the Program. In summary, James is an absolute gem and continues to achieve a lot here, he also remains weary of over-committing himself to too many things. I appreciate James' openness, positivity, and humour far more than I can express." and "While working James at iWantGreatCare, I found him to be a very intuitive, innovative and success hungry professional, which are great assets as a product manager. He demonstrated vast knowledge and understandings of product development as a whole, alongside being able to build great relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. I would with no doubt, recommend James to any organisation. "

Listed skills include Product Management, Agile Methodologies, Creative Writing, Photoshop, and 16 others.
