Directed research and communication for a thriving residential real estate team.Baked design thinking into our education, marketing, client care, and back-end business systems. Qualitative research was bedrock: interviews, participant observation, shadowing, think-aloud website searching, focus groups, process mapping, card sorting etc. Careful attention to client and team needs lead to systems that hummed. Business boomed.Developed client personas and a implemented a customized, segmented communication strategy that included monthly market reports, annual client reports, an array of themed marketing materials, tools to train and improve employee interviews, client satisfaction surveys, etc. All of these materials were derived from a deep understanding of the agents I supported and the clients they served.

Designed and directed research on the impact of nonprofit technology projects worldwide using qualitative and quantitative methods. Developed "Evidence Narrative" case study methodology to systematically gather and compare evidence from 20+ diverse, international grant recipients in Microsoft's Community Affairs portfolio. Work also emphasized program evaluation, including multi-year studies of U.S. Boys & Girls Clubs and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Access to Learning Award. Also designed and directed communication initiatives (writing, alternate formats, visualization, video, etc.) to make scientific research more accessible and impactful to policy makers.

Portland, Oregon Area

Daywalka Foundation provided legal and support services to transnational migrants in South Asia, with special emphasis on anti-human trafficking of women. I served on the board for six years. As a researcher I contributed to program design attuned to the local context through site visits, ethnography, and other qualitative research methods.

Greater Seattle Area

Installed computers, provided training, and delivered phone support to communities across the US for the BMGF U.S. Library Program. Also served as a trainer and provided technical support to Indian country as part of the Native American Access to Technology Program.

Assisted with all aspects of forensics program administration. Coached WWU's nationally competitive cross-examination policy debate squad. Taught undergraduate Public Speaking and Argumentation courses.

Spokane, Washington

Coached Gonzaga's cross-examination policy debate squad. At the 1995 national championship, teams finished in 2nd and 3rd place and a student won the top individual speaker.
