I am building a safer, more resilient world. I practice servant leadership. I have a bias for action. I am comfortable bringing cohesion to chaos. I'm open to short to mid-term partnerships building resilience in communities or organizations as well as solving complex or difficult problems. After 20+ years in local government service in a variety of roles like Director of Emergency Management, EOC Manager, Training & Exercise Coordinator, Planner, Paramedic, and more, I took a slower pace while my kids were in high school. I missed too much in their younger days with long hours and irregular shifts, but that is a mistake I'm thankful life granted me time to rectify. With my kids now off building their own experiences, I work with local governments, non-profits, and communities to help build their resilience. I love being a mentor as well as teaching others. I teach in the Emergency Management Basic Academy for the National Disaster and Emergency Management University (NDEMU), as well as in the National Exercise Standards Curriculum courses including the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) and the Master Exercise Practitioner courses. I do a variety of planning, training, and exercising with local governments and non-profits. Also, I'm a word nerd so I love doing Bunny Trails: A Word History Podcast with my great co-host, Shauna.
