Charlotte, North Carolina Area

I conducted research at the Games+Learning Lab at UNC-Charlotte. The research was focused on determining an intuitive AI paradigm for allowing non-programmers to plan and implement agents within a virtual world. My primary project focus was to create a user interface for scripting AI behavior. Users would be able to create a hierarchy of behaviors without a prior knowledge of the environment or artificial intelligence. They would be able to design a basic behavioral hierarchy for autonomous characters within a test game world. Along with work in designing the user interface, I was responsible for integrating the program's output into an existing virtual world. This included designing 3D environment for the simulation and translating the world into a two-dimensional, top-down map view for path planning.
