Regional Director
CurrentThe Society of St. Andrew works with farmers and volunteers to prevent food waste and decrease hunger. This means I work in the environmental/conservation community, the nonprofit community, and the Agriculture community in Tennessee. We collect food from farms and get it to charitable hunger-relief agencies, providing healthy fruits and vegetables for those in need. We're building relationships around the state to expand our reach and feed more people as a result. We've saved more food (from landfills) and donated more food (to hunger-relief agencies) every year since 2016.As the director of the Tennessee office of SoSA I:- write and manage about $200,000 in private, state, and federal grants;- participate in and contribute to local agricultural networks;- manage social media and communications;- develop relationships with donors, growers, legislators, and volunteer groups;- educate about hunger and food waste in a wide variety of settings;- supervise a small staff;- plan a variety of events;- facilitate a research study with the EPA;- follow, help formulate, and advocate for state-level hunger relief and food waste policies;- and I do a bit of accounting.
