In my initial role at Sprint, my objective was to design sales territories based on research and market opportunities. After only four months in the job, my boss informed me that our region had been eliminated and I could either move to corporate in Kansas City, or find a new job. I asked if there was a third option; pick one of the territories I designed and sell Sprint long distance to medium and large customers?After 8 months, I was the top sales rep for the year! Does that suggest I designed a good sales territory, know how to sell, or perhaps both? It was a fantastic experience that taught me a lot about connecting marketing research to practical applications!
