Guide and lead development of mobile applications at Coupa. Work closely with development and product management to implement features across both iOS and Android. Responsible for nearly all aspects of the iOS app, including networking, data layers and synchronization using standard Apple components and AFNetworking. Recently implemented natural language parsing to allow voice creation of structured expenses and am actively working on using location services to intelligently suggest expenses customers might want to report.

Apple recognized Planbook for Mac as a “New and Noteworthy” application in October 2011 and Planbook has maintained a 4.5 star (out of 5) user rating since entering the Mac App Store. Planbook is available for Mac and Windows computers, the iPad and also a read-only web-based (Ruby on Rails) service.

Appointed by Governor Theodore Kulongoski to serve as one of two teacher representatives on a Commission tasked with developing a state-wide online database of professional development opportunities for educators. Commission objectives included website design, implementing effective participant feedback tools, establishing benchmarks for inclusion into the database and developing tools to measure project effectiveness.

Elected by ~2500 teachers in the South Willamette Valley to represent them on the Board of Directors of the Oregon Education Association. My responsibilities on the Board included oversight and approval of the Association budget, providing direction related to statewide education reform strategies participating in the hiring process for a new Executive Director, and developing medium and long term financial, political and personnel-related strategies to enhance public education in Oregon. As part of my role as a Board Director, I served on the management bargaining team during contract negotiations with one of our staff unions.

Taught Physics, Chemistry, Physical Science and Science Projects to students in the Fern Ridge School District. Developed and taught Advanced Placement courses in both Physics and Chemistry where students outperformed national averages. Developed and taught courses in Science Projects to help foster critical and independent thinking. Participated in an education technology grant for two years and provided curriculum development, teaching and grant-writing skills to the effort. Served on the school’s leadership committee that established academic and community goals for the school. The committee also planned professional development opportunities designed to provide strategies for teachers, staff and administrators to help students attain the established goals.
