Throughout my communications career, my aim has been to elevate the stories of those I am working for while trying to stay in the background as much as possible. As a result, self-promotion is difficult for me, but here we go!After getting introduced to the world of Sports PR prior to my first year of college, I was hooked. Ever since, I have spent the bulk of my time working with the media to tell the stories of our athletes and/or teams, or finding nuggets of information to pass along to enhance coverage or a television broadcast. Seeing that work result in positive coverage makes it all worth it!My various roles in Sports PR have required me to be a quick learner, hard worker, and innovator. But mostly, they have seen me wear many hats. I've taken on roles such as training student workers on complex scoring software, overseeing the creation and roll out of a new athletic brand, serving as press conference moderator or media spokesman, and even occasionally taking a dust mop to sweep down a basketball court at halftime. Regardless of where I am, my goal has been to continue to grow personally and professionally each day while seeking to elevate those around me. At each step in my career, I have progressively gained responsibility and professional experience, from a student assistant at Western Washington University, to overseeing public relations for a professional team in the Seattle Storm. During that time, I have improved my writing and editing skills while writing press releases, feature stories, media notes, and everything in between. Most importantly, I learned the value of being a team player and working closely with other internal teams to promote the brand and the message. I love stats and numbers, cheering on my local sports teams, and a good IPA. I’m an outgoing people-person with a positive outlook on life. I am excited to partner with a company to tell the story of its brand, its people and its culture.
