Corrections Officer
Current• Serve on a team tasked with maintaining safety, order, and compliance within a prison/jail environment• Monitor inmate behavior to prevent crime, escape attempts, and other dangerous activities• Deal with stressful situations, defusing/de-escalating conflicts and performing crisis response activities• Supervise inmate residents during meal distribution and intake, recreation time, and work-site performance• Attend ongoing trainings in safety, physical protection, and physical/mechanical restraint procedures• Routinely interact with individuals dealing with challenging substance abuse and mental health conditions• Refer inmates/families to community service agencies, as needed, such as Sound Mental Health and Reach• Work closely with the court, probation officers, and law enforcement agencies on inmate-related issues• Review inmate records and document any incidents or unusual behavior in appropriate case files• Superior track record of performance; have received "Exceeds Expectations" ratings every year of tenure
