In addition to my role as managing partner, I am also a registered patent attorney with more than 35 years of experience in patent prosecution, litigation, and transactional work. I focus my practice in the areas of biotechnology, chemistry, and chemical engineering, and have handled matters in a wide variety of biotechnology disciplines including pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, gene therapies, recombinant nucleic acid technologies, and in-vivo and in-vitro diagnostic and gene-sequencing methods. I also have significant experience in diverse chemical engineering and metallurgical technologies. Like my colleagues at Marshall Gerstein, I am active in a number of professional associations and community organizations. I am a board member and have served as board chair of the Pilot Legis LLP, which is a national organization of mid-size law firms. I am also a board member and have served as board chair of The Latin School of Chicago and have served in a number of positions for Princeton University and its associated alumni organizations since receiving my undergraduate degree. I have been active in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the legal profession as a board member of the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms and as a Leader at the Front pledgee and mentor with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.
